I remember I appreciated their "Grandma-album" years ago for its pure eccentricity, but, fair enough to say, I lost my interest in that record quite quickly. Now this one really works fine for me: you have to be fully awake to listen to these songs in one sitting, but, surprisingly, they still find new ways to mix three songs into one. And: they can rock out and find melodies without "killing" them after some seconds! So "Widow City" is far away from being a gimmick or an old formula. The whole vibe of "Widow City" seems to reveal a new curiosity to dive deeper into their special approach to the art-and-rock-song-field. It´s a living thing! In this week i´m writing about three albums that move between A and B in your rating system (the others beng the first "post-punk" album that i love in a very long time - "The Future of the Left" - and "Beachfield" founded by the drummer of the late Go-Betweens. W.C. Perry, don´t miss this last one!

Very much looking forward to getting this on Monday. Heard a few mixed reviews before this but the songs I've got so far are excellent.

Put fancy clothes on a turd and you still have a turd.
