The Comsat Angels are the great unsung post-punk band. You can tell where The Edge ripped them off. One caveat: These albums were reissued in the mid-Nineties,with the extra tracks; so they haven't exactly been unavailable. Now, let's get The Chameleons remastered!

The more I listen to these records (and I've been doing that since they were first released) the better they sound - there is such a strong sense of humanity, of knowledge of human frailty in this music, as well as a pronounced tinge of otherworldliness; quite apart from that it just 'kicks arse', as you young people say. It's been gratifying to see interest in the band increasing recently, even Bono having the good grace to list them as a major influence. As Mr. O'Rielly says, they really deserve some serious recognition and huge amounts of cash.

For absolute years, all I'd been able to track down by the Comsats, one of the formative influences on my musical, and probably psychological,life,was/were the RPM reish, and some really ropey charity shop vinyl.Wierdly, got into them in New Zealand, where I grew up-so if I'd heard of 'em,what excuse do you Brits have?Same goes for The Sound, which brings me to my point..Big fuckin'respect to Renascent, for behaving like a proper record label,i.e into the music first, and the business second..
