|Thank you for interviewing Chris Bruni. Profound Lore is my label of the year by such a huge margin. No one else has produced such a stunning range of music that is as immediately arresting as it is experimental. Cobalt, Wold, Asunder, Alcest, The Angelic Process, Pulsefear and Caina - all these bands have released albums that are in my top 20 of the year. It's almost unbelievable that they should come from the same label - ha, maybe it's me that's bumped Profound Lore's UK sales this year! Not coincidentally, I guess, Chris shares my opinions on the whole (black-ish/bleak./dark) metal scene at the moment, with all the shoegazey post-rock stuff coming out. It takes a stretch of imagination (or experience) to be able to place Souvenirs D'un Autre Monde in the pantheon of Metal - after the first time I heard it I had to listen to it again straight away just to check to see whether there really weren't any harsh vocals - but it carries an air about it that is recognisably Metal. The artwork is beautiful too, same for the Cobalt album cover and it’s sense of immense lurking strength and potency. The Screech Owl cover is as eerie and weird as the music itself (Number 1 of the year, with a frog-poisoned bullet). Yeah, enough from me - Profund Lore fucking rule the Earth.|
Great list of reviews too.
