| very nice review, although the score seemed a bit low. i had read a lot about how this record is basically veneer, part 2, so i was surprised to hear what a step forward it actually is. the sound here (not to mention the lyrics) is so much rawer and edgier, even as the playing is more symphonic. crank this one up and its really staggering how much depth and variety he gets out of an acoustic guitar and a little percussion. there are plenty of bands out there with drum and electric instruments that can't get a sound nearly this big and complicated. This guy is really a remarkable musician. |
