A nice review written in an ambitious style ... although maybe you meant that the music produced by these two distinctive stylists comprised, rather than compromised "The Freed Man", although sceptics might go for both conclusions. But as you suggest, this sort of release leaves it up to the listener to sort out the wheat from the chaff and that's always been pretty much the way of things with Sebadoh and Barlow's other ventures, especially Sentridoh. I'm OK with that because Barlow's nuggets are well worth the digging (Gaffney's talent doesn't get to me so much) and I think you're saying that this CD is for the already converted and they'll find much to like, but they'll have to dig.
