Nice review. It sounds as if you actually enjoyed the album more than your B- indicates though. Is the grade more out of disappointment from unusually high expectations or album quality?

Good review. I tend to agree for the most part in terms of the overall tone of the album. Its greatness is in its evenness. There are no severe peaks and valleys, grating schmaltz moments or obvious and embarrassing points to his influences, and it's over much too quickly. This is Ryan Adams playing it safe, and there's really nothing wrong with that. What I find the most interesting after reading various reviews is the unanimity in regard to the overall quality of the album, but serious deviation in praising or bashing the individual songs. Maybe that's just another result of a steady, tepid album; the minima and maxima look the same.

Cables: a bit of both. I enjoyed the album - I think there are few people who like Ryan Adams at all who wouldn't get something from this record - but I would have hoped for something a bit better from him, particularly at this point in his career.

Dude, on the album cover, on Ryan's watch, dude, it reads 4:20. Dude.
