absolutely great review. I have heard only one track off the album but based on your insight and knowledge into the bands previous work you seem to know what you are talking about. A "Best Of" from Frog Eyes would probably be one of the greatest collections of indie rock this decade its just too bad they bog down their amazing songs with others that are needless and just way too inconsistent. Frog Eyes are always worth checking out for those isolated moments of intense unpredictable bliss but what remains after that just doesn't cut it.

Yikes, what is with the horrible cover art disgracing this and the Frog Eyes/Destroyer collaboration Notorious Lightning and Other Works?? And I thought Mercury Rev's All Is Dream had lousy artwork . . .

Just wait 'til you see the back. Frog Eyes has never been the most wonderful in the art department.

Was actually frustrated with the clean production values at first but it's definitely one of my favorites for this year. Mercer himself has done the illustrations for all of the Frog Eyes albums up to this point. If you got beef, take it up with the singer - I sure as hell wouldn't.
