Hmmm! I´m still waiting for the record, but heared four songs, and liked all of them! I like her singing, her phrasing, her roughness (there is nothing calculated), the sounds of Bill Frisell´s guitar and Jenny Scheinman´s violin arrangement ("Unsuffer me"), I like the production style of Hal Willner (he seems to have learned some lessons from Lanois´ colab with Emmylou Harris on that country-noir-masterpiece "Wrecking Ball". Like this other excellent new work from Rickie Lee Jones, "West" receives very mixed reviews. But, still crazy after some years with Stylus now, I more and more like reviews that are very opposite to my own listening experience. It´s a training for empathy:) For example. Alfred Soto was quite excited about the latest Pet Shop Boys´achievement, which, for me, never left the coffee light-zone of Starbucks.
