| ||"Black ice" is such a fitting metaphor for this record. At times it sounds like the most amateurish pap, the kind of formulaic playing-by-the-presets genre techno released by the bucketload with fractals on the cover and horrible MSPainted titles. The music that appeals to burnt-out middle-aged ex-ravers who still think "Ambient" is exotic and underground...
But then everything just sort of comes together, and the tracks momentarily reach a kind of unexplicable sonic depth. Just what is going on here?|
