What the fuck first sentence is that? Seriously! You make it sound like Goldfrapp are performing monkeys brought in to entertain a man stroking a big white cat. Grump over, I'm looking forward to getting my hands on this, the T.Raumschmiere remix of Train was HOT and the songs lend themselves to reworking very well.

yeah, that train remix is nice. also, i think the first sentence was probably about how america really doesn't pay as much attention to good music as england (on the plus side for the UK, Jimi Hendrix, but on the minus side, Crazy Frog), so a lot of artists tend to get overlooked unless they are just non-stop (ie Radiohead touring the states 5 times)

This review was an example of an extremly reductived piece of writing from someone who seems to represent the banal views of, dare i say it, a stereotypic American audience.Leaving aside a lead paragraph that ostensibly did its best to put anybody who knows a little about the group offside, it still sells the quality of Goldfrapp as a band, and as the basis for a remix, short.Goldfrapp have so many layered melodies in their songs from synths, pianos etc that they are one of the artists who produce the best and most interesting remixes due to the possibilities of interpretation. The remix by Mum of 'you never know' for eg may be simple but by amplifying what is a scerene piano driven sound it is still evocative and succesful. Simply because it is stripped down does not make it forgettable by any means! Also, the quality of some of the remixes by Alan Braxe & Carl Craig are understated in the review, while ironically the meandering DFA mix, which sounds like DFA coasting on their trademark sound, is the only track that doesn't quite work, yet is commended in comparison to some superior tracks. And paralelling Goldfrapp & the Faint demonstrates that you just do not get it!Make that an A grade ppl, Goldfrapp produce some of d best & most interesting material going around at d mom, both in terms of original material and in terms of remixed tracks...
