I've never understood why people like this band. Some of the more soulful singles like "Scar Tissue" are nice; but their incompetent white-by funk is just obnoxious and tuneless. And boring. Why do people like "Give It Away"? My vote for the Madonna Award: Crap songs that are, inexplicably, highly regarded by critics and consumers alike. Oh, and, the cover from the new album is so garish it makes me want to throw up.

Californication and that one before BloodSugarSexMagic (I forget the name) were genuinely good albums, and By The Way was even decent. But the idea of this just looks wrong. My little brother bought this, and I'm not sure why. I tried to get him to not waste his money on it and buy the new Walkmen instead but he didn't. Little bastard.

Yeah, the attempts at recreating their old sound on songs like "Hump De Bump" are pretty boring. But there are also so many awesome moments on this album like the last couple minutes of "Wet Sand" or the guitar during the chorus to "We Believe". It's not an album that's going to win any converts, but anyone who enjoys the kind of gorgeous pop that the band has been making on their past couple albums will probably like this one too.

My favorite comment about this band came from my brother who, exasperatedly, announced "it's not even real music." While it would take a 1000-word essay to put his comments in proper context, I still think of that simple phrase every time I encounter Red Hot Chili Peppers.

clearly you know nothing about guitar work let alone music at all. anyone who doesnt see this as a masterpiece is fucked outta there minds. this is real music, the four peppers are a perfect example how a band should be, they are close and all amazing. you are probably just used to all your pointless one hit wonders on the radio. get a sense of music.
