 Wow, gotta say that I really disagree with your take on the album. True each song takes influence from a different band or genre of indie rock but I never got the impression that that was a bad thing. In fact my biggest gripe with bands trying to imitate a specific sound from the history rock is when they only focus on doing one thing to death (i.e. The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand, Interpol). To me this album is a B+ or A-.

 As a lifelong Minneapolitan, I know what you mean about taking pride in our artists. Just about everyone from the Cities I've met, regardless of their musical interests, is proud of the fact that Prince is from Minnesota.

 sounds pretty consistent to me. Do Pavement and the Pixies represent wildly differing genres? Are there a few hidden hip-hop tracks on here that I didn't catch? Seems like you have more of an issue with the hype than the music.
