Wow. I'm a big fan of all the Anticon projects you mentioned (as well as Death Cab and Interpol), and I literally _could not_ disagree more. I dunno, it sounds like you just want weird for weird's sake. It would be one thing if this were bad indie pop, but "Sanddollars" is pretty much the best song of the year (although the version here is bogged down a bit by that stupid meta- part). Personally, I'm not bothered at all by Wolf's singing; it goes a hell of a lot better here than when he tried on Oaklandazulasylum ("You can feel... a single hair *CURL* on your head while you're sleeping" vs. "We love and hate like the tattooed fists"). That little parting shot of yours doesn't really make sense to me either, as this album certainly doesn't "make [me] feel better" -- at least Hymie's Basement had the whole reassuring "You die, you become a number" thing going on at the end, but "All the people who taught me card tricks are dying" is pretty much a fucking bummer.

I don't like the idea that falling back on more traditional song constructions is bad. It seems that whereas before Yoni was exploring the bounds of song-writing, now he's seeing how much he can pack inside the fences of the A-B-chorus construction. Also everywhere i read people seem to be judging this album by Sanddollars...What about "Light Leaves?" Morbid? Sure. But thrilling? YES!
