paul banks sings for interpol, not kessler; he plays guitar. and i feel the same way about editors as i do about the killers, in that it's an album full of singles. except for that slow number that sounds like 'leif erikson' off of t.o.t.b.l. that's just awful.

Re: Banks / Kessler - serves me right for relying on AMG for info rather than going into the next room to get the blasted CD...

Review is on the nail re: influences. All the initial talk was about Editors being Joy Division copyists (also a charge aimed at Interpol) when it's clear that they've locked themselves in a room with the first 2 Bunnymen albums. Guitar playing = more Sargeant than Sumner (applies to Interpol too). Also agree that despite the derivativeness, this is a pretty decent album with good songs and bodes well for a future which will hopefully see them finding more of their own 'voice'. Nicely reviewed.

I haven't hated an album the way I hate The Back Room in a while. I wanted to bypass the trade pile and take it straight to the garbage can.
