I always thought that if one man reviewed Dillinger Escape Plan and Ashlee Simpson on the same day, the world would most assuredly implode. I bow to your eclecticism, Mr. Burns.

Oh, come on. The album isn't that bad. Who are you to judge if the songs represent her? I felt like I knew her plenty. The problem is that the album is inconsistent. Some songs sound like bubblegum pop ("Giving It All Away",) one ("Better Off") is pure filler, and a couple songs near the end have too-sterile guitars. But "Pieces Of Me" and "Love Makes The World Go Round" are perfect pop (listen to "Love.." again - there's no "The Middle" there.) "Shadow" is pretty and unique. "Unreachable" has exceptional lyrics about a strained relationship, and you didn't note that. And she has a gritty voice. I give the album a 6/10 and a C+. Pop/rock music gets an unfair bad rap in the critical realm. I'm a fan of it.
