Good review, great album - although I disagree about the production.

another well-written and mostly spot-on review by Barry Schwartz. If you go to the link below, you can hear an audio clip of Ted Leo's voice mail (in which he identifies himself as "Teddy" by the way). There's also a discography comparing his albums to various items from the Legend of Zelda. Holy Spectacle Rock Batman!: http://www.islandpacket.com/entertainment/guide/story/6429027p-5729627c.html

You know how some people irrationally won't eat something everyone else thinks is yummy, for no explicable reason? Or when someone almost arbitrarily hates a person because of some cellular, visceral distaste that cannot be otherwise explained? That is exactly how I feel when I see Ted Leo's smug, grinning little face. Poor bastard, he probably doesn't deserve that.

Oh, and my comment above probably ensures that somewhere around 2014 I will own his entire catalog and be raving about how great he is. Actually, probably not, because I just realized I still despise Pavement and Stephen Malkmus after a good 13 years; yeah, he and Ted Leo could probably cure cancer and I'd still find reason to despise them. Okay, I swear I am not trolling--I will leave now.

Ted Leo is also the lead singer of +44. He changes in a phone booth.

This gentleman is severely overrated...his live show is a lie. A lie of rock and roll, a lie of lyrical inspiration, and a lie of engaged performance.
