Coldplay Preview New Album

NME reports:
Coldplay have given the NME a first listen to their third album. Chris Martin, the group’s lead singer, has said that it was one of the most difficult experiences of his life. The band has said that the pressure to equal A Rush Of Blood To The Head has stifled their creativity. Early sessions with long time producer Ken Nelson were scrapped and the band went back into rehearsals as a four-piece band before attempting the album for a second time with new producer Danton Supple. Martin told NME.COM: "Writing is what we’ve been doing all day, every day. It’s been quite turbulent. We’ve been through a lot of songs and a lot of sounds, a lot of studios. It took us a long time to realise the four of us should go into a rehearsal room again and play together rather than rely on technological assistance." NME.COM heard six tracks – ‘Square One’, ‘Talk’, ‘‘Till Kingdom Come’, ‘X&Y;’, ‘What If’ and ‘The Hardest Part’. The material mixes their trademark anthems with ’70s electronica, said the site, claiming that David Bowie, Bob Dylan and Brian Eno are all influences, while ‘Talk’ features the riff from Kraftwerk’s ‘Computer Love’.

Muse To Open Venue?

NME reports:
Muse will begin to craft the follow-up to 2003’s Absolution hopefully in a rehearsal space that will double as a venue. Speaking to the lead singer Matt Bellamy, the NME learned that the band would “love to do is get a little space in London, like a kind of thing where we can do private gigs to rehearse the songs before we record them. I think that’s a good vibe—getting people on message boards to come, so you get the pressure of a gig," he explained. "As soon as you play a song in a gig situation you really work out. It really changes your whole concept."

"This case is about freedom of the press, freedom of speech and the way that he and Shady (Records) have tried to suppress those freedoms," Dave Mays said.
