I’ve found myself turning into a McGinley man lately - after years of arguing with anyone who would listen that Love was the most talented songwriter of the 3 – and I can’t believe that you’d omit Escher. It’s one of my favourites anyway. I agree with the most of the rest though. Although Gene Clarke just has to be the last track. Idiosyncrasy schmidiosyncrasy.

A great TFC album, a sort of comedown after Bandwagonesque. "Get Funky" is pretty awful and I'd have slung that straight away, replace that with "Norman 3" this instant.

I, too have gone from Love to McGinley as my favorite. I used to like 'Escher' and expected to include it, but when I went to go listen to the album, I was just bored by it. Oh, and Scott: No. 'Get Funky' is genius.

"Norman 3" starts brilliantly but utlimately drags. I agree with MichaelL: "Escher" is a must-have (though like much of the album, it could use a remix) and Gene Clark just seems right as the closer. Thought-provoking article, in any case.
