"...if you're still using Fahrenheit" -- please.

Give in to the metric system, theokcomputer. You'll feel better once you do.

Ian, I'm really confused...I just listened to The Hexx again and I'm not really sure where the supposed "Sabbath homage" is in the song. Am I missing something? Or are you making rash comparisons? (Not that you normally do, but maybe you are here...I dunno.) That said, I love the solo (I think it can be called that) and the lyrics.

Way back when I was in high school I read a Rolling Stone in which Malkmus was interviewed and quoted as referring to "The Hexx" as an homage to Black Sabbath - I've got a live version on my computer that makes the debt a bit more clear. I think it's more in spirit than anything else?

 You could write for TinyMixTapes!

I'll have to find that interview and see if I can dig up that live version anywhere. I hadn't listened to it in a while (I haven't had Terror Twilight for very long and it's my least favorite record of theirs, which means little seeing as how its still great, but regardless I don't listen to it much) so maybe I'll have to listen to it a few more time to get it.

Update: I found a live version of The Hexx on YouTube, and you're absolutley right, that sounds a lot like Sabbath. I don't know what they did to it in the studio, but I think that live version sounds much better. Speaking of Sabbath and YouTube, there's a version of the Flaming LIps and Cat Power doing War Pigs on Austin City Limits on there, it's pretty good.

I just want to say that I, too, really don't know that I like "Wild World", but it really IS extremely fun to sing the "Ooh, baby, baby, it's a wild world" part. WHY IS THAT?? Sometimes it feels so good that I keep going to "And I'll always remember you, like a child, girl". It's just such a strangely jaunty rhythm that I have to give in. OH GOD ITS THE GREATEST SONG EVER

I do believe that is the first time anybody's ever used the acronym NWOBHM on Stylus. Congrats, Cosmo.
