In the context of the SE:L series, in the spirit of the wierdest work of Cronenberg and David Lynch, this song always seemed to me like a really wierd choice for a theme. But it's grown on me over the years, leading me down many cofusing paths in trying to find out about the band/artist that recorded it (Boa, bôa, B.O.A... it's not easy for an American out of the outaku loop like myself). Come to think of it, a Postal Service cover would bve pretty cool. If Iron and Wine can do "Such Great Heights," anything's possible.

I have loved this song desperately since seeing that anime, it's actually weird to see it being written about. Interesting fact: Rodgers is the daughter of Paul Rodgers from Bad Company.

As the author, it is good to get some positive feedback from the Serial Experiments Fan Club. Wierd choice for a theme? Yes, but too many times i find that anime themes give away the entire kicker of the plot (Shin Seiki Evangelion, Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon, Oruchuban Ebichu, to ka....) ... So random, inappropriate but catchy themes get me right here. Watch this space for dissections of anime themes in the future..... FRANCIS HENVILLE

Okay, but the Evangelion theme song is still great.

Still haven't seen Evangelion, but I'm saving up for all the DVDs as we speak (Volume 2 of the Platinum Edition just came out this week, but there's still quite a few left to go). But like you said, that'll probably all be discussed later...
