Is it really necessary to give a guided tour of this mediocre performer's ouevre? Her performance as June Carter Cash has got to be the single most overrated piece of acting in the last ten years. Comparing her to Julia Roberts is spot-on, though: both women have a charm that people seem to relate to; their charisma, when properly harnessed, is often mistaken for acting skill, which is infuriating because both are sorely limited as far as ability and range go. A perky determination does not a great actress make. This isn't the 1930s.

Gee, I thought Forest Whittaker's performance in The Last King of Scotland was the most overrated piece of acting in the last ten years.

Forest Whitaker was number two, Helen Mirren in The Queen number three.

Alexander Payne not a great director of actors? Well maybe his skill is in casting amazing actors. For my money, Paul Giamatti's reaction after learning his ex-wife is pregnant is THE Oscar clip that should have been. Disagree about Cruel Intentions. Reese's leaden performance was totally out of sync with the deliciously melodramatic tone of the movie. Either way, I agree with MazurM. I can't envisage a social situation where someone would have to bluff knowledge of Reese Witherspoon in order to save face. Surely you'd be more likely to intentionally feign ignorance of Reese Witherspoon's body of work if you wanted to get laid?
